The Priory at Beauly
Beauly Priory dates from 1230; one of three priories founded in Scotland at around that time for monks of the Valliscaulian order. Following the suppression of the Valliscaulian Order by the Pope, Beauly Cistercian in 1510 and was largely reconstructed between 1530 and 1558. A Category A listed building (Historic Scotland LB7129 http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB7129 ), the ruins are still extensive and are one of the main visitor attractions in Inverness-shire.
