Craig Dunain Hospital
A typical Victorian Asylum, what became known as Craig Dunain Hospital was originally called the Northern Counties District Lunatic Asylum. Growing up, my father worked as an electrical and heating engineer for the NHS and I recall visiting the hospital and its grounds on a number of occasions. The building ceased to be a hospital some years ago and is now in a state of disrepair. It is proposed to convert it into flats. The first few can be seen to the right of this view.

Former Craig Dunain Hospital
The main building of the former Craig Dunain Psychiatric Hospital. The hospital closed in 1999, and much of the site is becoming the 'Westercraigs' housing development. This main block dates from 1864, and is Category B listed. The part on the right has now been converted into flats, the rest appears to be derelict. It was substantially damaged in a fire in 2007. It is now on the Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland. http://www.buildingsatrisk.org.uk/details/894842
