Woodside Road
The grassy area on Woodside Road is one of those that suffers from the attentions of Moray Council's mowing programme. Those grubby brown clods of grass cuttings are so much more unsightly than the wild flowers they are made up of.

Glory-of-the-snow (Scilla forbesii)
Widely planted in gardens under the name of Chionodoxa. Nine species of scilla occur in Moray, but only one is native. This is one of the eight non-native species, introduced from western Turkey. My thanks to Ian Green for help with identification.

Boissier's Glory-of-the-Snow (Scilla luciliae)
Nine species of scilla occur in Moray, but only one is native. This is one of the eight non-native species, introduced from western Turkey. The Latin name is in honour of Lucile, the wife of the Swiss botanist Pierre Edmond Boissier. My thanks to Ian Green for help with identification.

Woodside Road
Woodside Road is only built up on one side, the other being a swathe of grass. It is in the shade of the trees on the left for much of the time, and I have heard it said that it is a very cold street.

Boundary Stone
One of seven stones that marked out the boundaries of the land given by the Duke of Gordon to build Image] in 1819. One side of the stone is marked M for Manse and the other D for Duke (or perhaps Duchy). The stone is in a private garden and was photographed by kind permission of the owner, who told me that the stone was moved from its original site when the road was widened, and also rotated 90° from its original orientation.
