Lossie Estuary
In the partial absence of the old breakwater, the surface of the estuary has become very turbulent. This was in fact the original harbour of Lossiemouth, before the present harbours were built in 1837. Above the shops and houses on the landward side of Seatown is the dark roof of the Town Hall.

Gone for gold!!! Lossiemouth leads the field....
There's not many of these around and like the Seine net it is probably another first for the celebrated fishing town of Lossiemouth. When news of the first gold medal to be won for Team GB in the London Olympics 2012 came through via the ladies rowing partnership of Helen Glover and Heather Stanning the UK was ecstatic but the citizens of Lossiemouth were even more ecstatic to learn that Heather Stanning was indeed a native of Lossiemouth. That's when the Royal Mail went to town and painted the Post-box gold! Image]

Seine net and gold post box - Pioneered in Lossiemouth
The award of the first gold medal of the London Olympics 2012 for Team GB came as a relief when women's pairs rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning crossed the line first. Can you imagine the buzz in Lossiemouth to find that 50% of the team hailed from the town of Lossiemouth? It was Royal Mail who delivered the congratulatory message when they decided to paint the post-box of the old post office gold in acknowledgement of the feat. Image]

Worth Making a Beeline For
This was taken in the rose garden at Lossiemouth, a very peaceful place to sit and watch the birds, bees and butterflies.

Lossiemouth promenade on a wild Sunday afternoon
With two hours to go to high tide which is all of 4 metres today there is some concern as to what may happen when it arrives. Out in the Firth the waves are colossal and the town is buzzing with spectators.
