High Street
The High Street has been pedestrianised, making a pleasant open space for events. The central kirk of St Giles is flanked by the Victorian buildings which replaced the traditional 'piazzas' - See Image

The Tower, 103 High Street
A neat little specimen of vernacular architecture gives a flavour of 17th-century Elgin. The tower is the only surviving portion of a house built by Andrew Leslie of Glen of Rothes, merchant and magistrate of the town. It was built in 1634 and remodelled some time after 1859 in the Scottish baronial style.

Dandy Lion
This piece of environmental 'art' is either a talking point or a hideous monstrosity, depending on your point of view, or, from that of the younger members of the community, a fine thing to climb on, much to the discomfiture of the Council who put it there, as it is made of fibreglass and relatively easily damaged. I have yet to hear anyone say that they think it is a thing of beauty. See Image] for an explanation of it. The seagull is not part of the original concept.
