Up freight train approaching Bonar Bridge Station, Ardgay
View NW, towards Lairg, Thurso and Wick, ex-Highland Far North line. Diesels were just taking over in 1962, this one being Birmingham/Sulzer Type 2 No. D5335 - which has been preserved by the heritage Caledonian Railway.

Former shop, Ardgay
Again for sale, this was once the village shop. After that it was a luxury tourist tat shop for Jurassic Park, sorry Alladale Estate. Its last incarnation was an office for Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries.

The Lady Ross
The post office seems to have crossed the road, now that the village shop has changed to the Alladale Country Store. The cafe is still "closed for refurbishment". Meanwhile the country store, a shop window for the zoo development at the head of Strath Carron supplies a very fine cup of coffee.
