There is a Class 08 shunter in the centre, with some sleeper carriages to the left, and a stack of Tesco/Stobart containers. The Longman industrial estate is beyond that, then the Kessock Bridge and Ord Hill.

Highland Railway 'Ben' 4-4-0 at Inverness Locomotive Depot
No. 14416 'Ben A'Bhuird', a Drummond 2P 4-4-0 of 1898, was withdrawn in 9/48, so was probably out of use here when photographed.

Caledonian 4-4-0 at Inverness Locomotive Depot
In the first year of Nationalisation, Pickergill '72' class No. 14493 is still in LMS livery. Inverness Depot was the principal Depot of the former Highland Railway (coded 60A by BR/ScR), providing most of the motive power of the LMSR Highland lines, from Perth and Aberdeen to the Far North. In 1946 it had an allocation of 71:- 37 4-6-0, 15 4-4-0, 8 0-6-0, 6 0-6-0T, 3 0-4-4T, 1 0-4-2T and 1 0-4-0T.
