Not so Merry Christmas
Maybe I have got it wrong, and the hotel is packed to the gills with customers who are heeding the law on drinking and driving. Maybe it will be heaving with revellers later on. But this is exactly 12.00 noon on Christmas Day and it doesn't look very merry to me.

Road Junction
I'm standing in Southside Road, and the junction is where Old Edinburgh Road meets it. It has only just struck me how messy the junction is, with traffic lights, no entry signs and assorted notices and street furniture cluttering up the scene.

A Church of Scotland, looking rather deserted at midday on Christmas Day. Morning service had taken place at 10.30, and was being followed by another service in the city centre Image] down on the river bank.

Old Edinburgh Road
Many of the houses on Old Edinburgh Road are now guest houses. It is a pleasant residential area and conveniently close to the city centre.

A Christmas Day rainbow arches over the road junction. The sharp spire belongs to St Stephen's Church. Compare with Image Not much change in the last eight years.
