Alness railway station, Highland
Opened in 1863 on the Highland Railway's line from Dingwall to Wick, this railway station closed in 1960. It was reopened in 1973. View west towards Evanton and Dingwall. The former southbound platform can be seen too the left.

View eastward, towards Thurso/Wick: ex-Highland Railway 'Far North Line', Inverness - Dingwall - Helmsdale - Thurso/Wick. The line and station have been kept going in spite of everything, but this looks hardly a place to hang about on a cold day.
