Neil M. Gunn plaque, High Street
A blue plaque on the High Street in Inverness. It is on the wall of the former post office, which later became the customs and excise building. It is now the Optical Express opticians. Gunn worked as a excise officer for a number of years, but there is some debate as to how much he actually worked here. It seems he was usually based at the Glen Mhor Distillery on Telford Street. From the plaque: Former customs and excise building Highland author Neil M. Gunn 1891-1973 worked here as Excise Officer 1921-1937 Inverness City Heritage Trust
