The village pump at Kersey
Pevsner says about Kersey: "Kersey is the most picturesque village of South Suffolk. The view from the church over the tiled roofs of the houses dipping down to the ford of the River Brett and climbing up the other side is not easily forgotten."
This view looks past the village pump at the top of the hill and down The Street towards the ford.

At the corner at the top of the hill north of the ford. The lane junction turning left is beyond the cottage, so I think all the scene is in square.

Kersey has many fine late medieval buildings but sees little of the tourist trade that overwhelms nearby Lavenham.

The Street
On the left 1 to 4 Ancient Houses (flats) are Grade I Listed buildings of the 16th century.
Row View above (pink) is probably 16th century with later alterations and Grade II Listed.
Priory Holme the thatched building is Grade II Listed. The single storey part below the chimney is probably the original cottage, the rest being rebuilt.
On the right is the White Horse Inn. I couldn't find if it was built as an Inn but White Horse (Kersey) Ltd was established in 1998 and dissolved on 15th Feb 2000 and is now a house. A timber-framed building probably of 16th century origin it is Grade II Listed.
Immediately on our right is Grade II Listed Bouttles a 16th/17th century timber-framed building.
