Hadleigh town sign
The town coat of arms is surmounted by Agnus Dei, the shield shows three packs of wool on azure and chevron Erminois which doesn’t say much about the town other than it benefited a great deal from the mediaeval wool trade.
It has a 15th-century timber-framed Guildhall other timber and brick listed buildings, some with highly detailed 17th century pargeting. The town has a total of 246 listed buildings; of these, four are Grade I listed. The church of St. Mary, Guthrum, King of the Danes, is said to be buried in the churchyard after he was killed by King Alfred at the battle of Edington in 878. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6655982
