The Golf Hotel, one of the 'Tolly Follies'
Built on Foxhall Road in the 1930s, the pub was designed by the architect John Shewell Corder to emulate the style of Helmingham Hall, home of the Tollemache family, owners of the Tolly Cobbold brewery. At the time, the pub stood on the edge of Black Heath, now largely covered by Ipswich Golf Course. There used to be a bowling green in the grounds behind the pub.
