Ipswich St Helen?s church
Standing beside the road named after the church, this comparatively small church is a hotch-potch of add-ons, squeezed between other buildings. The 19th century tower, built in flint with Bath stone dressings surmounted by the zinc-covered spire, is similar in some respects to Great Finborough but on a much smaller scale. Built in the Perpendicular style, the restorations have faithfully followed suit and the overall appearance is, despite everything, reasonably pleasing. Inside you will find two old bells removed from the belfry and placed in the nave. One is 15th century mediaeval, the other dated 1621. Inside it has been modernised to accommodate the 21st century style of worship with seats in a semicircle around a holy table giving it the general appearance of a music hall.
