Photograph was taken in 1965 outside 12 Ashdown Way, Ipswich, shortly after the house had been built. The property is on Broke Hall Estate, much of which was still incomplete and a building site at the time this photograph was taken (by my father, Frederick Mann).

Ipswich St Augustine of Hippo?s church
This church was designed by H Munro Cautley in 1926 and paid for by C.H.Bancroft. It is cruciform and based on the Perpendicular style of architecture. The exterior is rough-cast with stone dressings. The south transept had to be buttressed after some damage was suffered during the last war. The tower too is heavily buttressed. It is similar in many ways to Felixstowe St John the Baptist and is large and spacious inside, the north transept is taken up by the great organ, and above, is the crossing with its stone vaulting. The mediaeval font is from Linstead Magna before it was demolished.
