School sports on athletics track
I've never seen an athletics event before with the viewing crowd in the middle of the track. I don't know which school it was, and that is probably just as well, as many of the athletes in the relay race I witnessed did not seem very serious about it. Another odd feature was that the tent on the right housed a live cover-version rock band, which, judging by an overheard conversation with the mayor as he left, was made up of school pupils.
The sugar factory silos are visible in the distance.

West Suffolk House prepares to open
The fences have gone, the car park has been remodelled, and the last preparations are made for opening the following day.
The building is the replacement for the in-town offices of Suffolk County Council and St. Edmundsbury Borough Council.

Sports arena by night
The main illumination in the photo is the Sports Centre's running track and other outdoor facilities. On the right is West Suffolk House, the offices of Suffolk County Council and St. Edmundsbury Council. The field in the foreground belongs to King Edward VI School.
The sports arena was built on an area previously used by the Victorian barracks.

Crane dismantling at new council offices, Western Way
The new 'Public Services Village' building nears completion, and a day of good weather gives a chance to dismantle the tower crane - which needs a mobile crane to do it.

No longer a mystery object, Council 'Village' offices, Western Way
This odd object appears on top of the machinery room of the new joint council office. The newspaper supplement about the opening of the offices confirms that it is a sun tracking hot water solar panel, which is expected to supply 25% of the hot water requirements for the building. They are also collecting rainwater for toilet flushing and using heat pumps for heating.
