First view of ruined church, Westley
The site of this church only has one access point, from a narrow path, so this is always the first view. Apart from the graves, just the east wall survives, probably due to its strong buttresses.

Ruined church, Westley
Westley has two churches. One is intact Image while this one, off Old Church Lane, has only this piece of the east end wall remaining. It obviously fell down quite fast, as this grave is marked 1832. Or was it pulled down?

St Thomas of Canterbury Church Ruins, Westley
At the end of Old Church Lane, Westley. The tower of this former church collapsed in 1744. John Harris in his book Moving Rooms tells us that from 1828 until their auction in 1850, 62 pieces of carving from the demolished church at Westley, Suffolk, were displayed at premises at 43 Waterloo Bridge Road by antiquarian architect-enthusiast Lewis Nockells Cottingham as part of a collection of salvages and exemplars
