Dish of the day, Peckham Street
Two Astra dishes and a remaining dish from the Ionica radio based telephone system. This company closed years ago but left the worthless dishes. They obviously used high quality components - it looks like new. There is an overall view of Peckham Street on Geograph Image

Late 20th century meets medieval
The newer building looked better when it was a bank - the application of battleship grey paint by Domino's Pizza does not improve it. Behind it a flint wall probably traces the route of the original town walls. The area outside the wall here would have been too marshy to use for buildings, being close to Tay Fen (this is Tayfen Road) and with a small river running past. Is the river the Tay?

Peckham Street
A Victorian era terrace with a major parking problem. Some classic Suffolk flint construction on the right (south). Visible on the left are two remaining Ionica radio based telephone system dishes, small and octagonal. This company died years ago but left the worthless dishes. There is a close-up view at Image As in most places in 'sugartown' a part of the sugar factory is visible, on the left horizon, above Ipswich Street. I have spoken to a Mr Peckham who told me his ancestors ran a ropeworks on this site, which was on the edge of town in Victorian times, but at some point they decided to build terraced housing, cashing in on the local building boom and expansion towards the station.

Ancient wall, between Peckham St. and Tayfen Rd.
This is probably on the line of the original medieval town walls, though I doubt this structure is that old.
