Dirt track with a dead end, northern Bury St. Edmunds
The grid pattern of roads and tracks in northern Bury St. Edmunds is generally complete, but this one has a dead end at the back of a row of houses.

Surprise metalled road off dirt track
This little close, with its metalled road, is surprisingly located off a considerable length of dirt track. The steep hill is unusual in Bury - I would not like to own the house at the bottom when it rains hard. In the distance we get the almost inevitable view of the sugar factory silos.

Dirt track in northern Bury St. Edmunds
This dirt track runs off another track across the backs of houses in Fornham Road and Northgate Avenue. Unusually, this one seems to be a dead end.

Empty Fornham Road during England match
Looking north towards Fornham, from underneath the A14 road bridge, we see a very empty Fornham Road during an England World Cup football match - this is normally a very busy road. The reverse view appears in Image There is a surprise lurking just behind the houses on the right - woods and lakes (officially 'ponds') belonging to the sugar factory, and private to them. There is a pedestrian gate just out of shot on the right.

Developed close off dirt track
Walking along one of the dirt tracks that form the rectangular grid of this part of Bury St. Edmunds you suddenly come across this fully surfaced close with a few houses. Did they fail to get permission to surface the rest of the approach? In the background various buildings of the sugar factory appear on the horizon.

Scary graffiti
The word Tag seems superfluous. This is situated in a narrow alley created when the A45 (now A14) dual carriageway cut through near central Bury St. Edmunds, splitting Northgate Avenue. The footpath runs between houses and the massive supporting wall of the road. Already quite dark and scary at night I suspect.
