Entrance to RAF Honington
Originally opened in 1937 as a bomber base, Honington is now the RAF Regiment Depot, the last aircraft having left in 1993 when the Tornado Weapons Conversion Unit moved to Lossiemouth.

Memorials in the entrance of RAF Honington
The plaque on the left is 'In honour of The 1st Scouting Force' who served at Honington 21st September 1944 until 24th March 1945. The central Plaque is In Honoured Memory to the men of the 364th Fighter Group. During the period from 25th May 1943 until 10th November 1945 they flew 342 missions and destroyed 455 enemy aircraft. The right plaque is in recognition and in memory of the USAAF and the men who served at Honington from 1942 through to 1946.
