Great Livermere village sign
In need of some attention the sign is surmounted by a crown. The falcon on the sign relates to William Sakings, Falconer to Kings Charles I, Charles II, and James II. He is buried in the churchyard of St Peter’s church. Beneath the bird are the three crowns of East Anglia which draws upon the traditional arms of East Anglia attributed to the ancient Wuffingas dynasty; three crowns in a blue shield. Livermere is from the old English 'laefor-mere‘, meaning ‘reed lake’.
