Church Street, Woolpit
The name Woolpit derives from Old English meaning 'pit for trapping wolves'. Wolves do not need to be trapped here now and the village seems a pleasant enough place with a population of about 2,000. The K6 telephone box on Church Street, close to St Mary's Church, still has a telephone.

Woolpit: St. Mary's Church: The tower
The medieval tower and Georgian spire fell down in a storm in 1853.The replacement has been described as controversial; its pierced parapets and flying buttresses being totally out of character for Suffolk.
