Denham St Mary?s church
From outside you would not give this church a second glance. Your attention may be turned to nearby Denham Castle, once a Norman stronghold amid the resident Saxons. It would be a shame not to examine the church closer, for in the red-brick chapel north of the chancel you will find the beautiful tomb of Sir Edward Lewkenor (1605) and his wife Susan, who died of smallpox. They are accompanied by their two sons and six daughters, all kneeling beneath an enormous canopy.

St. Mary: the parish church of Denham
Although there are some small fragments left of the Norman church, it was almost entirely rebuilt in the 19th century. It stands very close to Denham Hall.
