Stanningfield Church
Dedicated to St Nicolas (that is the correct spelling). This church contains one of the great medieval treasures of East Anglia, the Stanningfield Doom, a 15th century folk art representation of the Last Judgement.

Stanningfield St Nicholas? church
A sad-looking church, with the top portion of the tower missing and a low pyramidal cap keeping out the rain. The doorways are Norman, the south, protected by an ancient wooden porch. In the nave is a photograph of the church complete with the tower as it was. Only one small bell remains. Three clappers from the old bells hang in the base of the tower. Arcading and shields decorate the simple font. In the chancel, the windows have unusual tracery which dates from the 14th century and beneath is a blocked quatrefoil opening. Built into the north wall of the sanctuary is a canopied Easter sepulchre formed from an altar tomb bearing the arms of the Rokewood family. Above the chancel arch is a doom painting which is in a good condition and is nicely detailed.
