Shimpling village sign
The sign is very helpful and proclaims the Arms are those of Sir Thomas Hallifax. Sir Thomas Hallifax (1722 – 1789), of Gordon House, Enfield, Middlesex, was an English banker, Lord Mayor of London and Member of Parliament. Thomas Hallifax built Shimpling Girls' School in 1841 and in 1871 his daughter added the boys section. The sign features the church where Claudia Schiffer and film producer Matthew Vaughn were married in 2002 and the windmill which used to stand on Mill Hill. Blackberries, daffodils, sheaves of corn, sheep, a pheasant, ducks around the pond complete with bulrushes create an idyllic scene, oh yes, and a jester? https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6655830

Shimpling village sign
Shimpling is practically two villages. Most of the houses are here in Shimpling Street, but the church shown is a good mile away to the southwest with a few more houses around.
