Ipswich IP2, Suffolk.
Looking up Burrell Road (the B1073) from near the south side of Stoke Bridge, there is this view of The Old Bell Inn with the red-brick Stoke Hall building near to the distant set of traffic lights. Records exist to confirm that this Grade II-listed pub was built in 1639 and that it was fully functioning until 5-6 years ago, allowing itself the title of the oldest operating licensed premises in Ipswich until 2007. It used to be larger until a section of it to the left of the present corner door was demolished several hundred years ago to make way for Vernon Street to provide easier access to Wherstead Road.
