Old jetty, New Cut, Ipswich
This old jetty was used until the mid-1970s for the unloading of malt from small coasting vessels. A former overhead sucker has been removed. The New Cut takes the waters of the River Orwell past the enclosed Wet Dock; at nearby Stoke Bridge the river is re-named the Gipping.

Old warehouse on Stoke Quay
The end of this building carries a reminder of Fison's chemical company, which built its fortune on the conversion of fossilised animal dung (coprolites - hence the name of the road on the other side of the river http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1112074 ) into fertiliser, which was a major industry here in the 19th century.
