Lark Road Mildenhall, around 1975
The estate around Lark Road (named after the river one field to the south) was being built in the mid 1970s. With a dead end it made a great playground too.
Note that there is no attempt to keep people out of the building sites.

With the church tower visible in the distance.
When I lived here in the 1970s - in the bungalow behind the lamppost - there were no houses on the left (south) and I would have been standing in an orchard.

At this time the road ended at a fence, with a disused orchard beyond.
Now the road continues through that area and loops back to the main road.
The white object beyond the trees is the sports dome at the secondary school.

Pools in recreation area by River Lark
It is not surprising that there are pools here, as the slope on the right leads to a raised bank holding back the River Lark. I was surprised to see no-one using this huge recreation area late on a Friday afternoon.
A man on a lawn tractor is just visible in the distance, mowing a large rectangle that could be a cricket pitch.

Mildenhall Kingsway Cemetery
Known locally as the 'Old Cemetery' this overgrown burial ground has a number of mown paths, but the graves are in a sorry state.

As well as crayfish fishermen we can see a rather lacklustre classic car display, some tractors, and a few other displays.
The bridge used to take this photo is still on the map but in reality has gone (as seen August 2011).
