Track leading west
This track turns off Shipdham Road and leads first in westerly, later in northerly direction, past Carbrooke Fen and Fen Farm, and to Brakehill Lodge Farm beyond. The view was taken in easterly direction; the house seen in mid-distance backs onto Shipdham Road. See > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/907219 for a view of this track further to the northwest.

Mixed wheat and barley
The crop was barley but round the edges were patches of wheat (presumably last year's crop regrown) and elsewhere wild oats (no surprise). For urban readers, I should add: the ears of barley bend down and have hairs, wheat ears stand fairly upright and are clean-shaven. Oat grains appear individually, not bunched together like wheat and barley grains are.

You can't say we didn't tell you
The track leads past Carbrooke Fen and is presumably used as part of a circuit by dog-walkers and pony-riders from the village. All we saw was a small deer, fortunately untrapped and unpoisoned Image
