Watton town sign
The sign shows two children under the tree and represent the ‘Babes In The Wood’, legend that two children were abandoned in Wayland Wood and left to die. Also seen on the Griston sign. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5620806
The hare leaping over a barrel are a play on the local word ‘watt’ meaning a Hare and ‘tun’ being a Barrel.
