Captain Mainwaring and the Anchor Hotel
Captain Mainwaring - or at least his bronze statue by Sean Hedges-Quinn - sits forlornly outside the derelict Anchor Hotel. The Anchor Hotel has been closed for several years now while controversy rages as to what should be done with the site, yet it has a unique connection with the statue; scenes from the very first episode of Dad's Army were shot here.
