A farmer's work is never done
The farmer is returning from a field that has been tilled with a cultipacker. A cultipacker crushes dirt clods, removes air pockets, and presses down small stones, forming a smooth, firm seedbed. Where seed has been broadcast, the roller gently firms the soil around the seeds, ensuring shallow seed placement and seed-to-soil contact. The farm track forms part of a circular walk which leads from Illington Hall Farm to Little Hockham, from where it turns in southerly direction back to the hamlet of Illington.
