Seen from the Croxton Road bridge, the Norwich - Ely railway passes through Thetford on a gentle curve. The station can be seen ahead and to the left a new housing development occupies the site of the old goods yard.

Thetford: a Stansted Airport train arriving
A Stadler bi-modal four-coach set arriving from Norwich in good time to depart at 14.00. The train is diesel powered from Norwich to Ely, where it will raise the pantograph and become an electric train for the rest of the journey under the wires of the Great Eastern main line.

This pub, at the end of Station Road, is conveniently placed for anyone arriving in the town off a train. The architectural style is interesting, although the flint facing is characteristic of this district.
