Wickham Skeith village sign
At the top of the sign are a tower windmill which stood on the edge of The Green along with a steam mill, and the 14th century church of St Andrew. The sign of The Swan public house remembers the time before it was converted into a private residence. The farmer on the tractor is in recognition of the long agricultural heritage associated with the village’s past. Beneath the sign, forming spandrels are two fish which can be seen or caught in the River Dove, or may be an obscure reference to St Andrew (the fisherman) and patron of the church. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4295701
