Halesworth Old Rectory over the garden wall
The rectory is a timber framed structure built in the 16th century with 17th, 18th and 19th century additions and alterations and is a grade II listed building. Utilised as a billet for Land Girls during World War II. In the extensive grounds is a fish pond which is of archaeological and landscape interest. The wall surrounding the former rectory once had semi-circular openings at the foot of the wall which once had wooden shutters, which would be opened to allow floodwaters from the River Blyth to overflow into the Rectory Pond. These have been bricked-up long since, but are still evident as seen here Image
