The sign was designed by Jenny Toombs and dedicated in 1987. It depicts various aspects of the village, including an Anglo Saxon ship, a Benedictine monk, a curlew and the old bridge over the River Alde. The cottage on the left is Smithy Cottage, a Grade II Listed Building constructed of local Coralline crag and dating back to Georgain times.
