The Plough and Sail
A name reflecting the past history here at Snape Maltings where farmed grain was transported by barge. Several pictures of this pub over the years Image and others. All of them show the pub with a pink exterior, which is a traditional shade for buildings in this area. As you see, it has now changed to a pale grey colour.

Former station house, Snape
The brick building on the right was occupied by the station master of Snape goods station. The annex to the left would appear to date from 1998. The Snape branch was a freight-only branch line that ran for approximately one and a half miles from Snape Junction on the Ipswich - Lowestoft main line. The branch opened on 1st June 1859 and its last train ran on 4th March 1960. The only known passenger train to have used the line was a railway enthusiasts' excursion which ran to Snape in September 1956.
