The Ogilvie Almshouses in Thorpeness
There are several sets of Ogilvie Almshouses in the area around Aldeburgh, Thorpeness and Leiston. These are the best-known, being in the middle of the holiday village of Thorpeness, but we also have Image and Image not very far away. The Thorpeness set seen here were constructed around 1926 as homes for estate staff, and attracted their own Grade II listing https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1228271 & https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101228271-ogilvie-almshouses-aldringham-cum-thorpe in 1983.

Almshouses
Modern Thorpeness was conceived by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie in the early 20th century as a private holiday village. These are the almshouses built in the 1920s to a design of William Gilmour Wilson as accommodation for the estate staff.
