Cosy Nook, in the grounds of the Red House, Aldeburgh
The Red House was for many years the home of Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears. Cosy Nook, in the grounds, was a cottage they built for their housekeeper, Elizabeth "Nellie" Hudson (1898-1982), when she retired in 1973. Miss Hudson chose the name Cosy Nook herself. The architect was Peter Collymore (1929-2019), who also designed the Library at the Red House for Britten and Pears: his obituary can be seen at https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2019/jul/08/peter-collymore-obituary.
Cosy Nook is now used by Britten Pears Arts for artists' residencies (https://brittenpearsarts.org/take-part/artists/residencies/creative-retreats ).
