This is the site of Aldeburgh Railway station, opened in the 1860's and closed in 1966.

Roundabout and houses, Victoria Road, Aldeburgh
The houses were constructed opposite Aldeburgh Railway Station which opened in 1860 and closed in 1966. The roundabout sits on the site of the station buildings which were cleared in 1975.

Aldeburgh town sign
The fine sign is almost obscured amongst a plethora of road signs on the roundabout upon which it is located. An extra two feet on the support pole would help make it a bit more noticeable.
The sign is based upon a seal granted to the Borough in 1561. The emblems are appropriate for an ancient port, fishing and shipbuilding centre.
