The Old Toll House, Debenham
No 2 High Street and the neighbour have their own unique Post Code (IP14 6QH). There are no easily accessible maps showing a Toll Gate at this position, but it is possible there might have been tolls levied on Market Bridge 30m to the North. However there was a charter allowing a market and fair dating back to 1221/2 and tolls levied for them, which might be relevant.

Debenham High Street
Taken by my father circa April 1964. The building with the sign was the premises of the Deben Rush Weavers who made rush mats, baskets and chair seats. The building next door with the castellations was Rose's butcher's shop. For a more recent view see Image On the opposite side was Carter's bicycle shop. In the far distance is Sir Robert Hitcham's school.
