Framsden Mill
This is a view of the upper post mill roundhouse showing the trestle timbers. This was all raised in the mid 19th C by Whitmore and Binyon during modernisation. Some of the upper timbers contain the original 1760s lead paint.

Framsden Mill
A 1836 addition; a switch from common to patent sails. The striking rod comes out to the right which connects to the wheel to the left. A chain with weight Image] is on this wheel which allows the miller to control the pitch of the shutters. When the gust has passed the weight falls under gravity pulling the shutters to their original position. It's like flying a kite, when a gust lifts you into the air (almost), then when it has gone you fall back onto your feet.
