Roundabout on the edge of Stowmarket
Viewed from the A14 road embankment.
This roundabout used to provide a direct link onto the A14 but for no obvious reason traffic now has to take a devious route out to a new pair of overhead roundabouts well to the west.

Stowmarket's Gun Cotton Explosion Memorial
Disaster struck Stowmarket on 11 August 1871, when an explosion at the Prentice Patent Safety Gun-cotton Company Factory claimed twenty-four lives and left seventy five injured, the site of the explosion is now home to a large paint factory.
Gun cotton was used as an explosive force for torpedoes, which the Messrs. Prentice were at the time manufacturing in great numbers for the British Government.
