Railway Bridge at Martlesham
This stretch of road was originally part of the main A12 between London and Lowestoft. This section was bypassed in the 1980s.

Martlesham village sign
Martlesham village sign
Two aircraft flying out of the frame of Martlesham’s sign are representative of the important part played by RAF Martlesham in developing Airborne Interception radar and the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment which were vital from the start of World War Two.
Heather and the Silver-studded Blue butterfly represent Martlesham Heath. British Telecom, Adastral Park, the Red Lion pub and St Mary’s church are also featured on the sign.
