Kings Head Inn, 17 Market Hill, Woodbridge
Late 15th or early 16th century Grade II Listed inn. Probably the oldest inn in Woodbridge the licence was issued in 1703. A Will of Gilys Levet, dated 1552 reportedly refers to this as Saint Edmund's Head. The first recorded innkeeper appears to be Samuel Nevill advertised as "...Distiller at the King's Head in the Market Place, Woodbridge sells all sorts of Brandies etc." in 1735. 1800 sale particulars describe it as "....with a shop tenement, stable & yards thereto belonging, in the occupation of John MANN, tenant at will." Directory entries include; 1839 Robert Goodall; 1855-1869 Alexander Cranmer; 1891-1892 William Sheppard; 1900 Frank J Briggs; 1901 no victualler given; 1912 John Howell.
