Hollesley All Saints church
A handsome church by any standards, dating from the 15th c. with neatly slated roof. In the buttress of the tower, there is what appears to be a broken stoup, (H. Munro Cautley claims it is not). A poor example of the Royal Arms of Charles II hangs in the church. The real interest for me was the variety of carvings of grotesques and other animals on the bench ends. Although relatively modern they are fascinating, one of them being a sciapus with his huge feet shading his body from the sun.
