Martello Towers
Perhaps the modern structure on top of the nearest tower is evidence of habitation. However the listed building database does not seem to record this addition, see http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1183138

Martello Tower with modern roof room
This tower has had a largely glass room added to the top. Not the most convenient location to live - a very long way from a paved road. The anti-flooding embankment also acts as a footpath, though at the time of writing (February 2015) this is partly closed due to coastal protection works further south. I believe this is tower X, and if I am right then the Geograph article on the towers is very wrong in stating that this was demolished long ago. http://www.geograph.org.uk/article/Martello-Towers
