Rendlesham village sign
The sign has six obvious elements consisting of St Gregory's church, surrounded by trees representative of Rendlesham forest, being overflown by the 1944 Grace Spitfire which is based nearby Bentwaters. Between the two flags of the United Kingdom and the United States of America representing the presence of the U.S. airbase (1951-1993) is Raedwald, Saxon King whose family home was Rendlesham and described by Bede as a "Kingly town that is named Rendlesham". On the supporting brick pillar is a representation of the flying saucer which may or may not have landed in Rendlesham Forest in 1980. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6648648
