Felixstowe Rail Terminus
View from the rail bridge on Garrison Lane. Much diminished from its heyday. Felixstowe Station has lost its grand terminal building and concourse as well as its forecourt designed for horse drawn carriages and its goods yard. Only one platform remains and this has been savagely cut off to a fraction of its original length. The wasteland to the left is former railway land and is currently subject to planning consent for the erection of a supermarket. http://www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk/yourdistrict/planning/devcontrol/applications/railwayapproach/

Felixstowe (Town) railway station, 2009
Opened as "Felixstowe Town" in 1898 by the Great Eastern Railway at the end of its line from Ipswich, the "Town" was dropped in 1969. View east towards the buffers. It used to be larger; there was a second platform to the right, now demolished, and the original concourse (in the background, and Grade II listed) has been detached from the operational station and turned into a shopping centre. Felixstowe (Town) railway station
Opened as "Felixstowe Town" in 1898 by the Great Eastern Railway at the end of its line from Ipswich, this was much better located for the town centre than the 1877 Image The "Town" suffix was dropped in 1969, a few years after Felixstowe Beach station had closed. View east towards the buffers. There used to be 4 longer platforms here - the island to the right having been demolished and the track (and further sidings) from the far left having also been removed. The original concourse (in the background, and Grade II listed) has been detached from the operational station and turned into a shopping centre.

The short canopy at Felixstowe. The station was a much larger affair in the past, extending back to the area adjacent to the parked car in the left background.
