Trimley St Martin village sign
The sign depicts Sir Thomas Cavendish an explorer and a privateer known as "The Navigator". He was born in Trimley St. Martin in 1560. He inherited all of his father’s wealth at the young age of twelve and consequently he enjoyed only the best things in life. His words are quoted on the post supporting the sign "My God! Whatever may befall. I shall ever love dear Trimley and the oaks of Grimston Hall." Queen Elizabeth I knighted Thomas Cavendish aboard his ship 'Desire'. A pub in Trimley is named The Three Mariners. The Three Mariners were his three ships – the Desire, the Content, and the Hugh Gallant. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1431966
